The Office of the Executive Dean provides strategic academic and administrative leadership for our most hands-on clinical programs. Serving as the chief clinical training officer, the Dean ensures that our students transition seamlessly from classroom theory to high-stakes hospital environments.

Background

The Faculty of Clinical Sciences comprises several critical aspects of medical practice: clinical medicine, anesthesia, ophthalmology, and surgery. We provide an immersive learning environment where students rotate through various hospital departments, gaining expertise in diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical care. Our faculty is committed to producing highly skilled clinicians who can address the diverse healthcare needs of Malawi's population.

Our Departments

Department of Clinical Medicine (DCM)

Training medical professionals in comprehensive patient care, diagnosis, and treatment across various healthcare settings. The department prepares clinicians who serve as the backbone of Malawi's healthcare system.

Department of Optometry

Preparing eye care professionals skilled in vision assessment, diagnosis of ocular conditions, and prescription of corrective lenses. The department addresses the growing need for eye health services in Malawi.

Department of Clinical Ophthalmology

Specialized training in the diagnosis and management of eye diseases, surgical interventions, and comprehensive eye care. Graduates serve in hospitals and clinics across the country.

Department of Clinical Anesthesia

Department of Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

Specialized training in the diagnosis and management of ENT conditions, including hearing disorders, sinus diseases, and head and neck pathologies.

Training specialists in musculoskeletal care, fracture management, and orthopedic surgery. The department addresses the high burden of traumatic injuries and orthopedic conditions in Malawi.
